Florian Orgeret (Project Leader)

Lecturer and researcher at La Rochelle University (ExcelLR programme). My work at the CEBC focuses on movement ecology and the ontogeny of migratory and dispersive behaviours. Through Senti-Risk, I develop approaches based on bio-logging and quantitative analysis to understand the emergence of individual variation in response to environmental disturbances. I also contribute to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in biology and ecology, notably in handling large, complex datasets (modelling with R software).

Charles-André Bost

Specialist in marine predator ecology and foraging strategies, Charles-André Bost (CEBC – CNRS / La Rochelle University) supports the Senti-Risk project. He acts as scientific adviser on biotelemetry approaches and co-supervises the doctoral research embedded within the programme.

Christophe Barbraud

Specialist in avian population dynamics and demography in the face of global change, Christophe Barbraud (CEBC – CNRS / La Rochelle University) supports the Senti-Risk project. He contributes methodological expertise linking demography and movement ecology, notably through the long-term monitoring of coastal bird communities and white stork populations.

Camille Santaniello

Undertaking her PhD within Senti-Risk (jointly supervised by C.-A. Bost & F. Orgeret), Camille investigates habitat-use strategies across several sentinel bird species along the land–sea continuum. Using GPS and accelerometry data, her research quantifies interactions with fishing vessels in the Bay of Biscay, risk exposure in juvenile storks during their initial migrations, and the behavioural responses of birds to coastal anthropogenic pressures.

Capucine Benoit-Grignard

During her Master’s degree at the University of Rennes, co-supervised by Florian Orgeret and Pierrick Bocher (LIENSs / CEBC), Capucine studied the ontogeny of Eurasian Curlew migration using GPS tracking. Her findings show that juveniles exhibit more exploratory movements and rely less on nature reserves than adults, making them particularly vulnerable to coastal and anthropogenic pressures (such as disturbance and hunting pressure at unprotected stopover sites)

Undergraduate Research Interns (BSc Biology, La Rochelle University)

  • Dorian Tellier (2025): Under the supervision of Florian Orgeret, Dorian carried out a literature review on the cumulative impacts of coastal development on bird life. His research focused on analysing interactions among anthropogenic pressures (offshore wind farms, fisheries, urbanisation) and modelling multi-risk coastal scenarios.
  • Pierre-Lou Del Valle (2026): Co-supervised by Florian Orgeret and Camille Santaniello at the CEBC, Pierre-Lou analysed GPS tracking datasets (Migratlane project) for Common Terns of Ré island. His study evaluated spatial habitat use and the sentinel role of the species in relation to coastal risks across the Pertuis Charentais.
